I have officially started a count down until the 25 newly hatched baby chicks arrive!!!!!!!!!!!!! Right now there is exactly 11 days, 17 hours, and 2 minutes until the chicks come. We are not positive if the chicks are coming on February 21 or 22. I put the count down on the 22nd. Also i have some advice. If you are thinking of getting chickens or if you already have chickens it may be a good idea to order a chicken magazine or catalog so you can keep up-date on your chicken trivia and supplies. If one of your supplies may break or get too old, you can order one right away from the catalog or magazine! 🙂 I also need all of you people to give me your advice. If we got the chicks at noon and at 2:00 in the afternoon we had 12 10 year old irks come over and start picking them up and playing with them do you tho that is a Good idea, a Bad idea, or an OK idea? Plus since my birthday is coming up soon the 2 addable balls of fluff will be one of the best presents i ever received!!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 And remember if any of you have any questions AT ALL please feel free to ask them in the comment box. I can answer ANY question you have on chickens. Thanks, again for reading!
My parents have ordered chickens! I screamed and screamed and smiled and laughed and danced and everything!!!! I am so excited I can not wait. The chickens are coming on my birthday day, what an awesome present is that!!!!!!!!! We are only going to keep two chickens but you had to order 25 chickens at once for body warmth and safeness. We ordered 9 barred rock chickens we aren’t keeping any of those, but we ordered 4 golden laced wyandottes, they are expensive. And my sisters chicken, the red star, we ordered 12 of because they were the cheapest. I have to pick from four chicks and my sister gets to pick from twelve chicks. Whatever i don’t care. I can’t wait!!!!!!! Just so you know we ordered our chicks from the Murray Mcmurray hatchery. It is a very nice website and farm. We are going to keep our chickens in a hedgehog cage that used a while ago. With the other 23 chickens weare going to trade with the feed store for feed carriers heat lamps or heating water bowls.
Talk to you later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello! The two places i recommend getting chickens, feed, or anything else are either The Belmont Feed and Seed Store, or The Feed Store.
The ONLY reason our family isn’t getting chickens from the belmont store is because they are not getting the Red Star chicken at the same time as the Golden Laced Wyandotte. Other than that it is a very good place to get your supplies and chickens. At the bottom of this message i will be showing you a picture of the A-frame coop we will be using for the care of our chickens. My family is actually going to open up a website where you can buy things, coops, etc, here about chicken care, the eggs, how to train chickens, what feed they like, and much much more!!!!! I will probably posting the name of the website when we have it all up and running. 🙂 If you have ANY, ANY, questions PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE, leave your comments at the bottom of the page!!!!!:) Thanks!
It is going to be about 2 more weeks before we get our baby chicks!!!!!!! I have decided to get a golden laced wyandotte chicky, (black and yellow as chick) And my big sister is going to get a Red Star chicky ( yellow as chick.) I f you are a person planning on getting chickens, make sure you pick out clean healthy chick. Check the time they are available and make sure that you visit the store you are going to buy them before you get them. You also have to make sure you are prepared with all of the equiptment you need. Such as, ( heat lamp, bedding, laying box, coop, chick feeder, watering container, big chick feeder, nail clipper, and maybe even some toys to keep your chickens active and thin. Remember chickens don’t just need items, they REALLY REALLY REALLY need love, care, and affection. ❤ You have to put away at LEAST 6 hours a week to play and care with your chickens. I hope you have fun with your chicky wickys!!!!!! 😛
I am Julia, I must be one of the biggest chicken lovers in the world. My parents have agreed to let us get chickens in the spring. We have all ready gotten an A- framed chicken coop. It would usually cost $600, but some of my moms friend gave it to us for free because they got a different chicken coop!!!!!! Me, my dad, and my sister washed it with the hose, scrubbed it down, and put on a enviormentaly friendly clear coting on top of the wood. This clear paint will keep the rain from seeping through the cracks and it will give the wood a solid finish. Both me and my sister get to decide on which chicken we want to get. I have decided on the Golden Laced Wyandotte chicken, and my sister is either going to get the Red Star chicken or the Orpington chicken. We are going to get them as chicks and then raise them. We will then keep them for about 3 years. Their eggs only have good nutrition in them for about 2 years and it will take about 1 year for them to grow to full size. I did all of my research from a book called Raising Chicken for Dummies . I did so much research that i know EVERYTHING about chickens. If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comment box or if you have any comment, in the comment box. I LOVE getting comments so go ahead. My family has decided to get all of our chicken feed from a place called The Feed Store. We are getting our chicks from a different place. We better be ready to plant some more grass and collect some eggs!
