I can not believe it!!!!!!! They came 1-2 days early!!!!! In the 25 chicks that we ordered we got one exotic chick that was gray and called a Blue Astrolourp i think. And we also got another Golden Laced Wyandotte. So i got another one to pick from. We chose which ones we wanted my mom chose one of the Barred Rocks, i chose a GLW ( it took me a long time to choose ), And my sister chose a Red Star. Four more of them, including the gray one, were chosen my another lady who wanted some hens. The other 21 chicks will be found different homes and sold from a store called The Feed Store. Here are some of the pictures we took of the ADORABLE chicks!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

We kept three, our neighbors took three, and some other family took four. The rest of the chicks our at the feed store now!!!

Cant wait till spring!!!!!!!!!  🙂 🙂 🙂

Almost Here!!!!!

Hello fellow chicken lovers!

It is getting VERY, VERY close until the chickens come. We have found homes for 3 of the other chicks, and since we are keeping 3, a barred rock, a red star, and a golden laced wyandotte, only 17 will be going to another chicken store!!! At a store called Scratch ‘n’ Sniff they are selling chicken feed and chicken supplies, so if you rate in need of any supplies or food i highly recommend Scratch ‘n’ Sniff. We have completed the area for all of the little chicks. In our basement we have a big cage with fluffing and newspaper on top ,along with a very large heatlamp for every chicky. I have finished scrubbing the watering container, and i found out that once you get any baby chicks you must dip their beaks in water so they know to start drinking right away! IT IS VERY CRUCIAL! We also have to start training our two pet dogs NOT to hurt, startle, scare, disturb, or eat any of the 25 chicks!!!!!!!!! I do NOT want a little dead baby chick, that will NOT happen!!!!! I am hoping the chicks come on Tuesday. Just imagine at the post office when they get a package that chirps!!! 😛 😛 😛 😛 I bet that when they called us up to tell us our “special” delivery is here, they will be laughing their heads off!!!!!! They probably never have anything interesting happen to them at the post office!!!, I JUST CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

So long for now, my fellow chicken lovers!!!!!!

Chicken Countdown :) :)

I have officially started a count down until the 25 newly hatched baby chicks arrive!!!!!!!!!!!!! Right now there is exactly 11 days, 17 hours, and 2 minutes until the chicks come. We are not positive if the chicks are coming on February 21 or 22. I put the count down on the 22nd. Also i have some advice. If you are thinking of getting chickens or if you already have chickens it may be a good idea to order a chicken magazine or catalog so you can keep up-date on your chicken trivia and supplies. If one of your supplies may break or get too old, you can order one right away from the catalog or magazine! 🙂 I also need all of you people to give me your advice. If we got the chicks at noon and at 2:00 in the afternoon we had 12 10 year old irks come over and start picking them up and playing with them do you tho that is a Good idea, a Bad idea, or an OK idea? Plus since my birthday is coming up soon the 2 addable balls of fluff will be one of the best presents i ever received!!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂  And remember if any of you have any questions AT ALL please feel free to ask them in the comment box. I can answer ANY question you have on chickens.   Thanks, again for reading!

Chicky Whickys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My parents have ordered chickens! I screamed and screamed and smiled and laughed and danced and everything!!!! I am so excited I can not wait. The chickens are coming on my birthday day, what an awesome present is that!!!!!!!!! We are only going to keep two chickens but you had to order 25 chickens at once for body warmth and safeness. We ordered 9 barred rock chickens we aren’t keeping any of those, but we ordered 4 golden laced wyandottes, they are expensive. And my sisters chicken, the red star, we ordered 12 of because they were the cheapest. I have to pick from four chicks and my sister gets to pick from twelve chicks. Whatever i don’t care. I can’t wait!!!!!!! Just so you know we ordered our chicks from the Murray Mcmurray hatchery. It is a very nice website and farm. We are going to keep our chickens in a hedgehog cage that used a while ago. With the other 23 chickens weare going to trade with the feed store for feed carriers heat lamps or heating water bowls.
Talk to you later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 HAPPY CHICKEN = HAPPY JULIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where to get Stuff?

Hello! The two places i recommend getting chickens, feed, or anything else are either The Belmont Feed and Seed Store, or The Feed Store.

The ONLY reason our family isn’t getting chickens from the belmont store is because they are not getting the Red Star chicken at the same time as the Golden Laced Wyandotte. Other than that it is a very good place to get your supplies and chickens. At the bottom of this message i will be showing you a picture of the A-frame coop we will be using for the care of our chickens. My family is actually going to open up a website where you can buy things, coops, etc,  here about chicken care, the eggs, how to train chickens, what feed they like, and much much more!!!!! I will probably posting the name of the website when we have it all up and running. 🙂 If you have ANY, ANY, questions PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE, leave your comments at the bottom of the page!!!!!:) Thanks!

Getting Chickens! :P

It is going to be about 2 more weeks before we get our baby chicks!!!!!!!  I have decided to get a golden laced wyandotte chicky, (black and yellow as chick) And my big sister is going to get a Red Star chicky ( yellow as chick.) I f you are a person planning on getting chickens, make sure you pick out  clean healthy chick. Check the time they are available and make sure that you visit the store you are going to buy them before you get them. You also have to make sure you are prepared with all of the equiptment you need. Such as, ( heat lamp, bedding, laying box, coop, chick feeder, watering container, big chick feeder, nail clipper, and maybe even some toys to keep your chickens active and thin. Remember chickens don’t just need items, they REALLY REALLY REALLY need love, care, and affection. ❤ You have to put away at LEAST 6 hours a week to play and care with your chickens. I hope you have fun with your chicky wickys!!!!!! 😛
